What is MHC?
The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is a collective term for a group of genes encoding the major histocompatibility antigens of animals, and in humans the MHC is known as HLA.Many of the proteins involved in antigen processing and presentation are encoded by genes in the MHC, and the function of the MHC molecule is to bind peptide fragments from pathogens and present them on the cell surface for recognition by the appropriate T cells.
